Take a deep breath, DL. I think your visitor was a Northern Water Snake, not a Copperhead. Water snakes are heavy-bodied, and often get accused of being venomous, but they aren't (around here, they are often mistaken for Water Moccasins/Cottonmouths). The most obvious difference is the marks across the back; on a Copperhead, they are narrow across the spine and wider on the sides ("dumbell shaped"). The snake in your picture has bands too close together for a Copperhead, and the bands are wider across the spine, narrower on the sides.;)

Good evening Cafe.
Still grumpy. Currently armed with the vacuum cleaner trying to be enthusiastic about household chores.
Got buttons to sew on, some cooking to do for the freezer (curry :drool) Need to sew up a seam on my work trousers before the whole section rips off. I should have a shave but I didn't strop the razor after the last time I used it and can't be bothered now.
The chickens have dug out a bare patch where the ground slope meets the roof and the pimple board is showing. I need to sort that out and find a way of discouraging them digging there.
Another warm one forecast for tomorrow and then it looks like we will actually get some rain and a 10C drop in temperature. I'll be easier to live with then.:p
I got some lovely tomatoes from the local greengrocer today. I had been whinging about Spanish tomatoes not being as good as Italian.:D Also got some small and seriously strong garlic.
The main house has an American couple coming to rent the appartment for a few days. They must either live or have been traveling outside the USA because I don't think Americans are being let into Spain atm.

It had a triangular head like a pit viper. Do Northern Water Snakes have triangular heads?? That would be GREAT as long as they are non-venomous! I'm nervous about them poking around the banks.

The chick she hatched (butt facing, far left) will be three weeks old tomorrow. Two fully feathered Sebrights were tucked under each wing. I shoved one over and stuffed her chick under a wing for the night. First night roosting.

Out in the pen. I saw Astrid and didn't see any chicks. They were all in this perennial grass.

DH had his first visit with Nan today. They had a wonderful afternoon chatting away out on the deck and she helped him do all his chores. He seemed in very good spirits when I got home and the house was nice and tidy. :love
