BYC Café

Why is the mileage so low? was it a demonstration model? or did the previous owner not like something about it?
You think like I do! That was my very first question to the dealer. The person that bought the car didn't like the hyrid performance and traded it in for a full gas model.

I've been driving hybrids since 2006 so I know they don't get up and GO like a full gas model but they do fine enough for me and the gas mileage can't be beat.

Looks like I'm going on an all day road trip Friday.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is on!
Today should be a good work day at mom's house. I'll grout the back splash in the kitchen and install the faucet, install the rest of the flashing on the deck and have my nephew and his fiance finish installing the deck board, clean all the old decking and CD off the property, plant the landscape plants and mulch the beds, check the shower plumbing for leaks, install the support under the drain, install the shower base, curb and as much of the membrane as I can.
Tomorrow I'll tile the floor in the bathroom, install the dryer vent, sink drains and cup pulls in the kitchen then clean it up and the kitchen is DONE! :wee

I'm far too wicked to rest.;)
You need to rest or you won't be able to keep up the wickedness!

This is what I came upon while driving up the hill from mom's house to get Bella for her appointment.
Ooops! Glad you didn't get there just as the line hit the road!

Meet Wren.
Very cute! Lucky chick.

Looks like a good price for an EX, the prior owner or the dealer is taking the depreciation hit.

Too many people think a speedy 0-60 is a must, of course every car reviewer including Consumer's Report harp on that - "fun to drive" always = fast 0-60. The fact is you aren't going to get up to speed any faster than the vehicle in front of you and if you are the lead dog you get to speed up to and stop at every red light anyway. There is no value there. I did a check once, 3rd car back at a red light. It took 15 seconds to get to the posted speed of 35 MPH.

Yep your Prius isn't worth fixing, I wish DW had not decided to keep her 2006. I think it is in better shape than yours even with 240K miles on it but I suspect it would have been worth more as a trade than it will ever be in the future as a private sale car whenever she decides we don't need it. She's driving it once a week to keep it "limber".

Edmunds review

the headliner is embedded with about 1,423,968,201 Doberman hairs that will never come out.
You do realize that while those particular hairs will stay with the Prius, the Kia will gain that many new ones right? ;)

Good afternoon Cafe.
Thanks for the coffee DL.
I'll be making tea in a couple of hours time.
Pissing down with rain here. Not a problem but a bit inconvenient as I would like to be doing stuff outside.
Can't help you with the car DL. I don't know a thing about them. I've only had two in my life and they were both wrecks. A thought though; given your propensity to want to haul building materials about and transport various canines, wouldn't a truck serve you better?

We still have DHs truck. Once these 3 houses are done, I'm hanging up my reno hat. I want to start living more like 'normal' people do. Going on little day trips, going out to eat on occasion, things like that.

Speaking of DHs truck, I let my nephew borrow it to get the rest of the CD off mom's property and up to the dumpster at Dad's house. The idiot cracked the rear window and had the nerve to suggest all he needed to offer was an apology and not pay to repair it. I set him straight on that account and suddenly I'm the a-hole. :idunno

I should have remembered you have your husbands truck to use.
I should write you richly desreve a normal life after the work and stress you've gone through, but I'm not sure a nomal life is much of a reward these days.
