BYC Café

@bruceha2000 I've never 'over wintered' carrots, but leaving parsnips in the ground till spring makes them really sweet. I'd imagine that the same works for carrots.
It works for parsnips here but the carrots rot if you leave them too long.

Only carrots thiis year where early ones then pulled them had enough for 2 meals here .. Thing I should have planted Beets did not but have tones of brussle sprouts if they have time to put fruit on
Just put sprouts in.

Good evening Cafe.
Tea is brewing.
I'm surrounded with bits of computer. Waiting for some stuff from the UK to finish the job.
I can just about stay on the Internet, but loading pictures etc isn't possible atm. BYC runs like a bag of nails.
Another warm one today; over 30C.

Mr. Shadrach, would care to explain why you reacted with a sad face when I suggested that the horny toads would make fine dinners in response to their tormenting my poor moulting hens!? Even Fabio has had it with them. He's moulting too and is none too pleased with constantly having to run to the aid of one of his damsels in distress.

This is a good day for tea! Thanks!

goodness it's been busy on this thread today! I spent the day in the garden to do a bit of pruning and tidying up and whoooosh - I lost count of the number of pages that have passed! Glad to read about improving smoke situation for many; I hope it continues to!

As much as I wanted ours gone saw more rolling in as I came inside
The fires are still burning so the smoke will likely be back until we get a big rain-- could be a couple of months here

Yeah, it's a bit of a bummer. I haven't tried any gluten free substitutes, but I suppose there are some tasty options out there
There are. Against The Grain makes a decent pizza. Avoid anything made by Shar like the plague (unless powdered and reconstituted rice cakes are of interest). Do not buy the Trader Duke's gluten free brownie mix (unless chewing on a sponge is your thing). My DD1 is GF, vegetarian and sensitive to all nightshades. That really reduces the options.
