After my rheumatologist said that it was possible the tetanus shot triggered the RA
That would be unfortunate. I wonder how often that happens. Apparently DW got hers when she got Fifths Disease from DD2 when the latter was 4 years old. Kids get a rash between their thighs and don't care, adults can get really sick.

I've never had a flu shot, but I've never had the flu either. Been wondering if I should because my immune system is apparently a big fat loser :gigAfter my rheumatologist said that it was possible the tetanus shot triggered the RA I'm a bit gun shy about doing anything at all.
I think the DR. read the study incorrectly!

There was a case of Reactive Arthritis flaring up after a tetanus booster but it was not Rheumatoid arthritis and it resolved in a week

The risk is not high enough to risk getting tetanus. The flu shot is important since getting both flu and covid at the same time would be bad!

I don't know what she read/heard, more that RA is "triggered" by "something" as a general rule. And the timeline makes sense, not that it matters at this point. Regardless, tetanus is nothing I want/ed to trifle with  They say that you're predisposed to RA anyway. Cards/hands/play what your dealt, blah blah :p

I read quite a number of stories, people talking about when their RA started and how it's progressed, different medications etc. and while I never read anything about Tdap shots I read 5 or 6 that were after a flu shot. I also saw people getting it after Fifths.
(disclaimer: I'm not advocating for/against anything. Just some things that I've read trying to gobble up any information I can.)
How does DW do?

@Meg-in-MT That is definitely a question you might want to pose to your rheumatologist. I know that they recommend that my granddaughter with Lupus should get a flu shot every year.
That's probably a good idea, Sour. It makes sense that they would push for a vaccine when your "at-risk", but I never thought to ask. Of course, you can't seem to get an answer unless you do
