BYC Café

Since I cleaned my room due to company coming, I notice the cats are determined to throw everything back on the floor. Last night Crazy Cat threw the lamp on the floor. Always busy that girl! Here she is with her son, who is bigger than she is. Just like me with my sons.
Well I tried to post photo, wouldn't go.

Drain pit?
My land drains down the driveway from the road, past(hopefully) the garage, out into the yard via a swale. Works great, until I built the chicken run right in the drainage area(only place for either).
So I added a buried pipe starting at the edge of the run to get the water past the under-run(part of run that's under the coop). The end of that pipe empties into a covered pit to keep the birds from blocking it up with their diggings. Have used several things to protect this area, mostly an HC covered frame(old grazing frame)surrounded by bricks and pavers(damn diggers!)....wasn't enough, so decided ti should be covered with a solid waterproof cover. Looking around the 'stead for something waterproof and 14 x 47", saw this worthless(to me) snow scoop someone gave me a couple years ago....
.....yep, flat part is big enough, so I cut that sucker up!

Might attach it with hinges, but think it's heavy enough to stay in place on it's own.

Good morning, cafe. Still morning? Made a fresh pot.

Chick is feeling pretty rough and seemingly depressed about her toe. It broke lengthwise back into the hair. The vet said to either trim the toenail so it doesn't hit the ground when she walks or grab it with a pair of pliers and yank it out.

I'm not even sure what you'd pull out. The entire nail? The bottom half? May try to trim it, but basically will be pinching the two halves together. I'm sure it will hurt. Any thoughts?

Winter is coming :(

Last week 20 entries in a combined class. Today 13 entries and the participants decide to run two classes. War of Will had two exceptional runs to win the 13" class of 7. War Cry had a big mistake in his first run and was back third high. Beat his bracemate in second and third series but was beaten in fourth series. I came home with a 1st and a 2nd. I am having a banner year with my dogs.
Well done Mr sourland.:thumbsup

OHHHHHHHHHHH MY GOODNESS!! SQUEEEEEEEEE! I put my incubator on lockdown yesterday morning, and I have ONE egg pipping!! It's Bruiser's replacement egg for the last batch that I incubated and one of his didn't make it.. was cracked/damaged so badly that the poor little critter got shrink wrapped.. and he had absorbed most of the yolk too... But this little one is pecking away at the shell!! I'm so eggcited! Also in the bator are 4 of Charlie and Henrietta's eggs. They are both BSLs that I raised from chicks...
