BYC Café

I know it's a bad idea to have broken raw egg inside a bird. But if I can open the very end of that egg and drain most of it maybe she would be able to crush it and push it out. Thoughts anyone?
I watched a video of someone trying to remove the egg, and had the same thought. I would worry about the egg shell cutting her on the way out, however, I have no experience in the matter. I wonder about squirting some warm oil up and around the egg, if possible?

I rubbed coconut oil all around the egg and vent.

Recipe?? It looks delicious! :drool
It turned out pretty good! Youngest got me the baking mix off of Amazon. The pancakes were pretty good, too :)

I was kidding about the super blue, but he's a wyandotte cross :) Any ideas what she might lay if "she" hatches? I know a miniscule amount about genetics.
I'm no expert but I do know that each bird has 2 color genes and the chicks get 1 from each parent. Thus, if your blue layer has 2 blue genes the chicks will all have one and the girls will lay blue-green. If she has only 1 blue gene, the chicks have a 50-50 chance of getting one blue and those that do will lay blue-green. But in the latter case, you have a 75% chance a chick will have 2 brown genes.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.
It's a whopping 3F outside right now. Snow predicted to start late this afternoon. 6-9" total by tomorrow.
Have a great Sunday everyone.
It was -11°F this morning, might make 8°F before dropping again and will likely be colder tomorrow morning but should rise to the mid-upper teens. Our snow total is extremely likely to be > 4" with a 50% chance of 8" or more.

Predicting 12 - 18" of snow here.
That is TOO MUCH Sour!!!!

hubby asked for Devil Dogs! trying to reclaim his youth?
Or lose his waistline.

Morning Cafe We get to head in to Costco today
On a Sunday? Why not wait until tomorrow when all the people that have to work won't be in the store?

The egg is right at the door. I think it just hurts her. I've picked more of the crusty stuff off of her vent and you can see it's pretty red and raw. I've got her soaking in warm water and I hope she can get it out. I think I'm going to put some oil in her vent.

That looks a lot better than it did a few days ago. I hope that egg makes its way out OK, I'm sure some oil can't hurt.
