How old is Peanut?
She would be three in the spring. I lost Lucy last year with a similar end. When I got them, I didn't realize just how prolific their laying would be. I love the breed. Lucy was particularly spunky but very personable. But I'd never get another one.
I have Lucy's daughter, Una, but with Fabio being her father, she is not as petite as a WLH. I hope that mix makes her more vigorous and longer lived.

Good morning all. The snow is beautiful! Feeling a lil blue this morning. Some days you can ignore stuff and other days it gets the beat of us. I won’t let today be ruined by repetitive negative thoughts. So nice to have this site. Why does it relax me? Haha
Hot coffee! Loads of milk and sugar yum

Hi @sourland a new puppy! That’s always fun. We have two but no longer puppies (although they sure act it). Your right about getting out of your head. That’s a good way to put it. I’ll try to keep that thought today. Thanks for the idea. I’m not someone who usually laments on things but yesterday had a few bad hours and I’m not used to it. Don’t like the feeling. Plenty to keep me busy though as you said GET OUT OF MY HEAD.
have a beautiful day. Thanks for responding. I kinda needed it. Now for the second cup of cyber coffee... may I pour you a piping hot cup? How about some coconut swirl.... lovely addition frim Dunkin’ Donuts! Haha⛄

Seneca is back in the house.

She was straining and groaning this morning on the roost. No egg. She was constipated. Her crop didn't move either. I just spent the last 45 minutes carefully digging (with my finger) and flushing her out with warm water. A chicken enema. We got a lot out and she feels much better. I have now done things with a chicken I never dreamed I would. :sick I've gone through a lot of soap and hand sanitizer in the last few days.

I then syringed about 20 mls of water into her and massaged her crop. I really need to get tubing supplies. It takes FOREVER to drip 20 mls alongside her beak to wick in and her drink it. She should really have a lot more than that.

And it's still snowing.

And the plow hasn't been by yet.

And I still have about 2.5 hours of shoveling to do. And finish cleaning the coop...

Could always go this route with the syringe.
She's not drinking on her own?
Apparently not enough.
I would need a smaller syringe to fit in her beak. I'm using a 10 cc for the drip method. I may have a 1 ml but that's still a hell of a lot of cramming a syringe to the back of her throat to get the water in.

ETA: I just offered her some water and she readily drank. Maybe 15 mls on her own. I'll offer her water every 30 minutes or so. I gave her a little crop massage too. I'm keeping her in until she starts pooping successfully without my help.
