BYC Café

Good evening Cafe.
I've made tea if anyone fnacies a cup.
Sold a lamp today which helps make the day.
Got rats under the duck shed again.:he
Got the last of the properly dry oak into the car port. I don't think I'll be needing much more wood the way the weather has been.
lovely sunny day around 18C. Rain on it's way apparently.
That's great you sold a lamp! Is it one of the ones in your thread?

Too bad about the rats. Are you going to have to break out the slingshot?

Thanks, DL. Me too. Apparently all of his issues are stemming from heavy lifting. Need to start implementing some changes around there to make things easier, I guess.
Yes. That kind of hard work needs to be reduced as you age. Go ahead and try explaining that to a man.

Chilly and breezy, but sunny here now. Upper 40s and sunny the rest of the week. Yay!

I hear ya on the dentist. We haven't gone since covid, and probably won't until we get vaccinated. So it'll be about 18 months between cleanings. Not what we usually do.

I'm getting the stuff to get chicks. Got feed, grit, and a warmer plate. I really need to be on top of this so if I have a chance for Blue Australorps, I can jump on it.

Last night when I couldn't sleep, I was planning out how I would move chicks into the run when they're big enough. It'll be four chicks (TSC minimum), and I think I'll just move the brooder (xl dog crate) out to the run. I plan to fence off about 1/3 of the run for the little's area and do look but don't touch for two? three? weeks. Total area of run is about 90 sf.

Will chicken wire be strong enough for the fence? Maybe make a "littles" door for the second week to see about them intermingling.

Suggestions welcome....

Yes, unfortunately he didn't really start that until recently and the damage had been done. We were talking about how to mitigate some of the heavy lifting, like packing 100# calves into the barn from the corral...a sled with a lid or strap to keep them in? Not too mention the 50# bags of everything around there. And him picking up the slack from my issues.

We'll figure it out, I suppose. Good thing the kids are young and close by!
