BYC Café

I just came back from a nice bike tour with Ollie, he loves it and can't get enough, but I still have to go easy as he will be only a year old on Saturday.
Does he run free or on a leash?
I used to take my GSD on the mountain bikes trails(off leash).
She stayed with me rather well, but yeah, had to watch not to over do her.
I used to ride with the brakes on to slow me down without decreasing my workout.

Yesterday, our dog Mara had several grand mal seizures. We took her to Animal Emergency Hospital in Grand Rapids. Things were not good, and we chose to say goodbye to our lovely girl this afternoon.

RIP, Mara. You were and are much loved. We'll see you at the Rainbow Bridge with Shadow and Raven.
:hugs

Good morning and thanks for the coffee!
Sally, so sorry for the loss of Mara. :hugs
Aart, sunchokes... :drool Mine will be taking their sweet time as well and maybe not have enough time to make good roots.
My DS@ was down in AZ/NM fighting fires these past weeks, I wonder if they will be heading NW now. The last time he was in OR, he was in Hornet, and amazed at all of the literal hornets they had flying around and not particularly happy about that!
Enjoy the day, Cafe!

You eat the tubers?
...and leave some in to regrow the following year?
I planted these a long, long time ago, have never eaten any.
Tho part my family tree made a pickle relish out of them(gag).
They are almost impossible to get rid of, unless you let the deer have their way.

Good afternoon, cafe!

Summer is here! Now it's sweltering. 92° yesterday and headed for 95° today. Only a couple days of this and back into the 70°s. I do love hot weather, but only if I can wear my shorts and flip flops :p

We got a lot accomplished over the long weekend. My husband put my flower barrels back outside on Friday since it was warming up. It got down to 30° Saturday morning and nipped my dahlias. Argh. I'll probably end up replacing them. I've got a few clematis to get in the ground and a couple Lenten roses I bought on Mothers day. My alliums I was so excited about didn't survive the snow storm. :(

Tonya, glad to hear about UN! I hope it works out for him. I'm sure you're waiting for CS to get back on her broom and go back from whence she came:mad:

Sunchokes are very sweet and I use them like potatoes. Fantastic alongside eggs and bacon. However, you have to get used to them slowly because they have lots of inulin in them and most people do not regularly eat plants with lots of inulin. If you overindulge too quickly, you will get very gassy and feel like a colicky horse. Inulin is a great fiber for diabetics as it does not cause spikes and such when digested.
