BYC Café

Shadow is visiting for the first time since Ben died.
He's so much bigger than Bella. He's the same weight Ben was. I forgot what a big boy he was.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! We have been having gully washers here as well, but so far, no warnings were issued. I hope your area is passable, DL!
I bought myself a new coffee mug to celebrate surviving another wisdom-inducing year.
It holds just the right amount of coffee, not too much so that it gets cold before it's empty and not too little so that you can't get a post written before having to fill it again!
I hope you all have a great weekend on this Holiday. I think we will actually mosey on over to some fireworks this year. Stay safe and hugs!
Was that a birthday gift to yourself? Those are my favorite kind of presents.

Congratulations on the new mug & another year of accumulated wisdom! :wee

Well, Dh has different ideas on the coop extension. I told him my plan was to save him from doing much work, other than helping me get it put together and in place. So we're going to be bending some conduit to match the peak of the existing run. Then we have to buy some joining pieces that may or may not be hard to find. I told him I really need this done in two or three weeks, and he's cool with that. Now. Wait until two weeks go by and we don't have anything done on it...

They might. What are you attaching the rafters too?
Got a build thread for it?

Turned inertia into momentum this afternoon.
Almost went back to the couch after finishing the whacking, but got on the rider and slaughtered the worst of the saplings in the east field. Several dozen pretty big Catalpas sprouting out there. Included clearing around the burn spot/brush piles, now that it's rained I can get to that, after hauling out the hoses, after the next few scorcher days.

I don't have a thread.... yet... I'll take a picture of the piece I need to find, and maybe someone will know what I need to ask for.

I really wasn't expecting this to come up. :idunnoThought I had a plan, stuff, and just needed to put the two together.

I just asked Dh about what to attach the rafters to, and got the inspiring answer of, "Dunno." Sigh.

To be fair, he just busted his a$$ all day clearing out the garage. His brain is turned to "minimal" at the moment.

This is a "Four end" joining piece; my finger is pointing at the screw at the top, just to show where it stops. I picked the rusty one so you could see it against the straight pieces.

This is a "Three end" joining piece, for corners.

What are these things called? I see welds where the straight arms are attached to the angled pieces. I'm hoping these aren't custom made, but are standard parts... :fl

@aart, thanks. Greenhouse framing led to Canopy framing, and I found what I was looking for. I also found out that they are $8-10 each for the corners, and over $20 for the four arm pieces. I don't know if we will be able to find pieces that match the angles of the existing run. I do not want to spend $100-200 on pieces, do a bunch of cutting and fitting, and be under the gun to get this done when we have stuff that is already made.

Now I need to talk hubby into my original plan... Maybe just read him the above paragraph?
