Raisins... They'll come in for raisins. I'm lucky to leave the pen each morning with all the flesh still on my hands.

There are only 2 hens and 2 pullets that won't eat from my hand out of 27 birds.
Both hens suffered days of my horrible, evil caring for them to clear minor crop impactions and will never forgive me for it (ingrates). The pullets just haven't worked up the courage... Yet. Their brother has been running to me for raisins for weeks. One sister started yesterday.

Strange that all the males I've hand fed are incredibly gentle while the females are prone to tryinng to remove fingers!

It is grey and drizzling and the wind is back. I'd rather snuggle up on the sofa with a nice book and a mug of hot coffee than cleaning the coops.

What exactly is this mysterious BOSS? Must be something containing some seeds, but what are the exact ingredients?

BOSS is black oil sunflower seed.

It's windy and cold here. Finally back in the university, though the smell of the fire is certainly not gone yet (but air quality has tested fine).

Seems to me you do well here, I'm sure much better than I would do with German abbreviations
