A few weeks ago, DH and I were hiking along the cabin trails through the woods. DH is always lagging behind me about 15-20'. We had just crossed over a little wood plank bridge when I heard a THWUMP behind me. I turned around and saw a rather large dead branch had fallen right behind me and right in front of DH. It was definitely large enough that if either of us had been hit by it we would have been seriously injured. It wasn't even windy that day.

Ash trees are coming down like that around here. It almost appears as if they are particularly brittle.

A few years ago, I couldn't get home, due to an ice storm having taken down trees and one was across the road. I was walking down the road, and I kept hearing crashes. So I decided to walk across the corn field instead. Here's a picture of a small oak tree. It has since straightened back up.

Late to the Cafe' - work party at the beagle club. I'm wet and cold, and need the coffee. Christmas plans may be out the window as granddaughter and her fiance tested positive for Covid yesterday. Both are vaccinated, and so far their symptoms are mild.

I hope they aren't made too miserable with The Covid Mr sourland.

On the way home from grocery shopping, I took the street that has a huge amount of houses elaborately decorated for Christmas. Any time one drives that street after dark during the season you must expect everyone will be driving about 3 miles an hour.
I had cracked the windows because we were getting hot wearing our coats. I was going through the preset stations on the car radio looking for the " all holiday music" station when I hit the rock station playing AC/DC Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and cranked up the volume as we puttered on up the street. Some guy propping up his blow up Rudolf gave us a 'What the hell is that?" look.
Ho ho ho!!!

Heard an explosion, pretty close by.
Guess it was a head on car crash 1/4 mile away.
55mph speed limit, often far exceeded, near a hill by a cross street.
