What a unique and very special christmas gift! Makes me wonder about my own ancestry, while some of it is well known, there might be other interesting genes farther down the line to explore...



Yes, open air is the way to go. That's what we do too.


After almost two months of laying, one of my pullets (she was the first to lay) started molting two days ago. Very weird, never had this happen before with pullets.

But maybe she is the one that got broody too, as one of the 12 pullets surprised me with broody poops starting 10 days ago and her eggs are missing since about the same time as well.

I didn't know what I was looking for when I set out so probably not.

Have had it happen before.
One of this years 6 went broody, twice, then she molted.
What triggered this is, I think, I changed the bedding and most freaked out, feed consumption went way down for 3-4 days.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! We are busy here with everything. It is sunny, breezy, and highs in the 40's for a few days. We are not planning on any travel for this holiday, just staying close for the fire danger and fun like that.

Grand daughter and her fiance' have Covid, grandson just returned from college with Covid, daughter and SIL have been exposed, older grandson is not coming home from Ca. because of all of this - that eliminates one family. Son and family will not come unless that can get Covid tested - that is highly unlikely. So, it's just the Princess and me. Thankful that we like one another.
