Balmy mid teens this morning.
Sunny and up to 30°F later.
Best part...NO NEW SNOW!!
Plenty of the old stuff yet to clear away.

6 weeks to spring, ie, the Vernal Equinox. Does 6 weeks sound longer than 42 days?

It’s beautiful bright and sunny here today - what a change. Almost too much sun for me, but I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, so we’re use to a lot of cloud cover.

I gave up on the neighbor and shoveled out again. It took about 1.5 hours. There is still a thick layer of the frozen rain packed down on the driveway. I just shoveled the light fluffy snow off of it. It'll be there until the spring thaw. It's at least 2" thick.

Is there ice underneath the fluffy new stuff?

Is there ice underneath the fluffy new stuff?

Yes and no. The first several inches that fell was frozen rain. I scraped off about 1.5" of it the night before but more than that fell over night before switching over to fluffy snow. The frozen rain is packed down tight. I'm sure where I drive over it will turn to solid ice with a few freeze thaw cycles. Should be a downright hoot out there until the thaw.
I worry because I have caregivers coming in when I'm at work.
