I gave up on the neighbor and shoveled out again. It took about 1.5 hours. There is still a thick layer of the frozen rain packed down on the driveway. I just shoveled the light fluffy snow off of it. It'll be there until the spring thaw. It's at least 2" thick.
Is there ice underneath the fluffy new stuff?

Yep, but then that's the Americans blaming the Irish. Can't get much more Irish than Murphy.:D
I doubt it had anything to do with his nationality. SMH.
"It was named after Capt. Edward A. Murphy, an engineer working on Air Force Project MX981, (a project) designed to see how much sudden deceleration a person can stand in a crash. ... The contractor's project manager kept a list of "laws" and added this one, which he called Murphy's Law."

Yes and no. The first several inches that fell was frozen rain. I scraped off about 1.5" of it the night before but more than that fell over night before switching over to fluffy snow. The frozen rain is packed down tight. I'm sure where I drive over it will turn to solid ice with a few freeze thaw cycles. Should be a downright hoot out there until the thaw.
I worry because I have caregivers coming in when I'm at work.
