Very glad it is "only" the gall stones @Meg-in-MT !

Your cake looks delicious and very tempting, I hope you all will have a nice birthday party with your Dad.

25 days without smoking! Hurray :woot

I quit smoking in the beginnings of October 1989 and never had a single drag ever since.
But I agree that sometimes, especially after a wonderful sunday breakfast I would still love to smoke a cigarette while reading my Sunday paper! It was like a ritual for me and I guess that is what keeps the craving (for the ritual) alive even after so many years.
Yes, me too, LF! Hopefully they don't want to cause me troubles.

That's crazy that you still think about it after so many years. I told my Dad this morning that we just need to make friends with the fact that the want won't go away. A quick redirect of the brain has been very helpful for me. Doesn't matter what it is, just skip over the thought of a cigarette as quickly as possible.

Good morning, Cafe', and thanks for the coffee.
@Meg-in-MT Well done! I quit nicotine perhaps 15 years ago (leaf tobacco). The craving is triggered less frequently now, and I spend a lot of time around folks with bags of chew in their pockets. I have told the Princess that if I ever get a fatal diagnosis I will not drink again, but I will come with a bag of Levi Garret in one back pocket and a bag of Redman in the other.
You are one of the people I think about when I say that! It's less scary now than it was at first, but it's such a bummer it hangs on like that. Thanks, Sour.
@Meg-in-MT you're doing great! Keep it up. :yesss:

Lucky you that your gall stones aren't causing you trouble. I mouthed off once to a friend, bragging that I was the only of my siblings to still have my gall bladder. That night I had my first attack. It was out within a week.
Thank you, Tonya! :hugs

You're the first person I thought about when I saw the gallstone thing since I knew you'd had yours out. Apparently it can be genetic, huh? And that's terrible timing, isn't it?? Funny now, probably not so funny at the time!
Hi Meg, sorry you aren't feeling well. But you did a great job with the cake, I'm sure the birthday boy will enjoy it!
Thank you, Debby! It really was tasty. I found a great high altitude chocolate cake recipe that made 3 - 8" layers. Double layer for Pa and I single for super bowl. I've eaten lots of cake this week

Apparently.
I ended up in the ER three times. The third time was on the morning my surgery was scheduled. It was postponed because I'd had 3 attacks in 5 days. As in pain so severe I couldn't walk upright attacks.
The day before surgery the doc sent a scope down my throat, into my stomach and into the duct that drains the gall bladder. Didn't see any stone stuck in there so they squeezed me in for late surgery the following day.
Mind you I'd had nothing to eat for three days at this point. I woke up late that night needing to pee something fierce but my abdomen was sore from them poking holes through it. A nurse helped me to the bathroom. After I was finished I just sat there because my head was spinning.
The nurse got impatient and knocked on the door asking if I was okay.
I said "I'm dizzy".
She said "Don't get up".
I said "No sh!t"
She waited all of 5 seconds after that before coming in to get me.
I complained, "I'm still dizzy".
She said "I'll help you..."
I ended up dropping to the floor like a sack of potatoes and faintly remember her screaming for another nurse to come help her.
I woke up on my back in my bed while she and the male nurse were jerking me around and examining my abdomen for infection. I heard the male nurse say "Geez. What did they do to her?" :lau

How many chickens can fit in one teeny little spot of grass with a big concrete lid in the middle? They intend to find out.
It's 55F and raining and they will not be contained.

When we moved from FL to WY I pretty much had to learn how to bake all over again. The altitude makes a major difference!
