Nice sunny day.

Fabio waited until after I refilled the waterer and sat down in the run to come in and give me the stink eye. He's such a butt!

I'm going to try to get two loads of my RC lumber order today. Among other things.

At least you can trap a raccoon.
Hopefully the ground hogs will stay out in the woods.
I've only trapped one coon, didn't even know it was around, I was expecting a groundhog.

Yup. Lead pill, buried it deep in the garden. I'll thank it often for it's contribution to the soil.
I toss them out in the woods, let the foxes or coyotes eat out there rather than coming near the barn (hopefully).

I just finished up running the dogs down at the old Apalachin Firemen Field Day grounds where I've been coming for over a quarter of a century with their permission. I ran into one of the firemen. I had seen that the listing to sell this property was pending so I asked who bought it and for what purpose.
I am so relieved to learn that a local person has purchased the property. He works for Gorricks Construction and he does demos for them. He will demolish some of the buildings that are in bad shape and possibly do some repairs on the two larger structures. His wife has horses. His intention is to hay the fields. That means he will more than likely be perfectly fine with us continuing to run our dogs on the paths around the fields and down to the creek. The fireman I spoke to said that he thought that wouldn't be a problem for him. :wee

I believe mothers keep the younsters together for quite a while. One night i saw 5 coons in the middle of the road!
They do - even into the autumn/early winter.

Good morning, Cafe'. Is there any chance Maggie Mae got into the coffee pot ?

Typed this this morning, and neglected to post. :he

The trap is empty. No raccoon, no ground hog. A now-stale brat bun sits there, unmolested.

It's still pretty windy, but less so than yesterday. At 42 degrees, it's too chilly to dig in the wet dirt in the garden.

So instead, I built a chicknic table out of some wood scraps DH brought home from work to use as kindling. It's strong enough that I can sit on it, so it will surely hold chickens. I'll get pictures after I've painted it. Paint will hide a lot of the "didn't quite fit exactly" bits. :)
