The power keeps going out too.

Ours did too, DD2 discovered it when she went to make cinnamon rolls for breakfast around 9. The wall oven is a big power hog so it isn't connected to the batteries.

Tonight, we are having leg of lamb and veggies.

It was HEAVY!!

Yeah, heart attack snow.

I had my car down by the barn to charge overnight since I had to be at the hospital for a bloodwork draw at the stupid hour of 6:45 am. Hill, soft ground, snow and snow tires already removed meant I ended up taking DW's old Prius. That is why we pretty much never use the charger in the barn in the winter. DW usually plugs my car in on Tuesday mornings when she leaves for work around the time I had to be at the hospital.

Had I known that was going to happen I could have just wasted some gas (which I ended up doing anyway) or even plugged into the 110V outlet at the house. Small battery, easily slow charged overnight.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! It is a beautiful day here and we are off to have lunch with a friend. He is moving out of his current caretaking ranch and I hope to hear where he is moving to. Fingers crossed for him as he is the kind of person that needs to be able to fix and work and clean!

It finally got sunny around noon. And got up to 62 degrees!

I pulled two buckets of weeds for the chickens. And picked our first "crop" out of the garden: cilantro. It reseeded itself from the first year I planted it, and I let it grow where it wants too. If a particular plant is in the way, the chickens get some.

After a few days of wonderful sunshine we are back to cold and dreary, the chicks are not amused and I installed a heat lamp in the aviary for those that do no longer fit under the momma hen. This weekend they will be two weeks old and although momma hen is doing great with the littles, she is hardly able to cover all 21 at once, since they are growing too fast.
