BYC Café

I got another 5 hugelkultur holes dug. It was easier today, for some reason, and I don't think I got that much in better shape overnight.

It's raining now, and we could get storms later. I didn't fill in the hugelkultur holes, so I hope the logs soak up this rain.

@DobieLover, thanks for posting your plans/drawings. Please take lots of pictures as the build progresses and show off your work.

Thanks for the coffee. I'll add another pot, as it's going to be a 3 cup day, at least, for me.

We had two nice days (actually a day and a half), and then Mother Nature put her B-hat on again. I got 9 hugelkultur holes with wood chunks dug over the weekend, and they got a good soaking with the rain last night. The next 3-4 nights will be near to slightly below freezing, and cooler than average forecast through the next 10-14 days. If we just get some sunshine, the greenhouse will be warm. If we don't, then the starts won't start.
:barnie
I just reread that, and I have nothing to complain about. So many people have much worse weather and living conditions right now.

1,2,3,4....76930, etc. That's me, counting my blessings.

Good morning Cafe and thanks for the coffee LF.
I was on the roof most of the day.
Cleaning off the old shingles and prying my bathroom vent out of the tar then getting up the drip edge, I&W (around two vent pipes) and underlayment to the ridge. The tarp then had to be repositioned and tied down. Then all the tools and supplies put away. I was staggering by the time I came in last night.

The contractor I hired to do the front texted me last night saying we'd be doing the build the WO May 9! No way is this waiting that long. Not to mention, I'm leaving for DE for 2 weeks on May 14. That's not enough time for me to finish things up.
This Thursday and Friday are supposed to be sunny and dry. Just cool. So what. I sent him the above picture and told him I could get the neighbor to help. He's coming Thursday.

Good morning and sunny again, 20F, and one inch of snow after all that. My neighbor emailed. After trying two different sources of chainsaws, they have come to the conclusion that some help just might be in order. I think it is supposed to get to 40F today and no wind, so, "Sure thing." My DH stated yesterday that there would be no way that he would help them and I said that I would because you never know when your life may depend on any of the neighbors up here.

I've always wanted one.

When visiting the couple that bought dad's house, the wife showed me theirs and went on and on about how much she loved it. She got it at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Our local store rather abruptly announced they were closing and everything in there is discounted. I got it for 20% off.

I'll have to run it when the dogs aren't home. Bella will be terrified of it and Skittles will either try to kill it or ride it into the next county.
