So they are sure it's a virus?
No sign of infection. I had 100% blood O2, my temp was 98.2 (I tend to run low) and my BP was 110/60. No redness in the ear. Just swollen lymph nodes in the neck, the persistent cough and the plugged ear.
I will confess I started myself on some prednisone I had left over from Ben. My head and ear definitely felt better this morning.

Sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do. I used to have a MD who would give me a prescription for antibiotics when we were going to vacation 'out of the country'. Only had to use it one time.

That can mask the bigger poblem DL
I saw a doctor. She told me the tube was plugged because of inflammation. One of the treatments that was listed for plugged eustachian tube was oral steroids.
I'm staying the course.
It's a middle of the road level. Adults can be treated with 5 - 60 mg per day on a ramp down schedule. I'm starting at 40 for a week, then 20 for a week then 10 for a week then done.
If this doesn't take care of it as I continue my excruciatingly slow road to recovery from this virus, I'll go see a doctor again.

I actually think I'm doing pretty darn good today. Especially compared to yesterday. I never even ran the dogs yesterday I was so bad.

I shook all the damn Skittle hair out of all the bedding this morning and got a load started after feeding the dogs and doing the chickens, ran the dogs then ground their nails and groomed about a pound of hair out of Skittles (all outside), kept going on the wash after actually cooking myself a proper breakfast, watered all my flowers and potted pond plants, planted 4 dappled willow to complete the hedgerow, planted a pieris and a burgundy bunny perennial grass, weeded the majority of my gardens, sprayed the fence line and bed edges, unloaded the dishwasher and cleaned kitchen and now I'm taking a little break before I head out to get some groceries. And bed is already made. I LOVE sleeping in a bed with freshly washed linens!!

Yes!

If I call "Lunch cat!" Rascal (DW's cat) will come from wherever she is. "Lunch cat" means some deli ham will be going in her plate. She also comes to "Treat time!" and "Tuna water!".

Christofur (DD2's cat) will come running at any sound. Don't need to tell him the is food available because he's ever hopeful.

And you, do you have those genes as well or did she get them from your wife?
I have one. The DW did not take the test but their is a history in the family for dementia.

I find alcoholic drinks help dry up the stuff in the ear.
