BYC Café

Good morning and thanks for the coffee!
We had some nice rain last night and now there are flash flood watches out for this evening's rain that is supposed to come in. I am glad that other peeps got some much needed rain/ coolness.
I ordered DH$'s textbooks yesterday and it was not horrible on price~ $150. I guess there is a perk to having 5 yrs of college scheduled instead of 4, lol.

Enjoy the day!

Tangential input to get some vortex action?
Yes. Over the pond edge with a 1.5" flex PVC pipe that I'll direct to sweep the side walls of the marginal/bog shelf. That line will have the UV clarifier in it. I'll use a valve at the discharge end of the pump to restrict max flow on that line to 1250 gph.
What kind of fittings will you use to connect pipe to settling tank?
Homemade bulkheads. I'm using a 4" PVC male electrical conduit/slip adapter to a schedule 40 female/slip adapter with a 1/8" thick EPDM gasket on the inside of the barrel sealed with polyurethane. Same thing for the outlet from the tank but 2" instead.
Just to make sure everything holds water I'll probably put a long piece of pipe and a cap on both of them and fill the barrel with water to test it. Then I'll cut the pipes to length and glue in couplings to connect the plumbing.

I meant the pipe from the bottom drain into the settling tank.
All piping needs to remain below water level until it hits the pump.

After scooping three of these out of the water in the hole:

I managed to get the settling tank hole down to the depth needed and pretty level.
I also got the plumbing area dug down but I'll probably need to get more out. I'll know when I dig the hole for the bottom drain and trench over towards the tank and bore through the wall into the pit.

I'm standing on the ledge the tank will sit on. It is 39" down.

This is the soil profile:

There was a fourth frog in the pond. They are a little early for crying out loud. Talk about pressure!!

Yes. It will have a cut 90 degree elbow on it to swirl the water in the tank to try to settle out the heavier stuff.
