BYC Café

Good evening Cafe.
I don't want to dwell on why, but this made me grin....slightly guilty conscience perhaps...:p

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

I left to run the dogs immediately after feeding and releasing the birds. And I still was attacked by a horde of gnats when I got down here because it's so humid and warm. Here we go again! Oh and to add to the fun Jody's gone fully tilt broody on me. Again. This is number 3.

Another interesting flock interaction observation I saw this morning...
Fabio kept up with his 'picking crap up and dropping it in front of me' challenge so I accepted and squashed him to the ground, then picked him up and sat with him on my leg for about 5 minutes right in front of the flock. Ace was paying very close attention to this.
When I finally released Fabio he went around to the front of the coop to finish working on the scratch and be with his older girls while Ace was around the side. Ace sauntered up behind Tink and the chicks and went up to one of the little boys and gave him a good whack on the back, picking him up off the ground and dropping him. Tink sent up a little alarm and took off with both chicks. I immediately went after Ace. He ran off underneath the chicken bush and I couldn't get at him.
After I walked out of the gate I turned around and saw he'd come out chasing Remi, my half blind girl. When he didn't catch her he chased Kylie out of the run. Then he saw a Tink again and started chasing her! I think he was taking full advantage that the big guy had been taken down a notch and he thought he was going to step up and fill it.
He's very lucky I did not get my hands on him!

<facetiousfont>Oh, what fun!
.....and you've got 2 more males growing now?

Still very uncomfortable... uhgymuhgy.
At least it's a bit cooler.
Supposed to be cloudy most the day with rain today and tomorrow.
Then temps both day and night will drop.

Let all 3 broodies out yesterday afternoon, was too hot to keep them in, so they could indulge in the ice block I brought out.
2 went to roost and 1 went back in a crate.

Oh make no mistake, they aren't staying!
with rain today and tomorrow.
Same here. We're supposed to get rain every day up through wednesday. And I'm all for it because we are so dry here.

Those are better odds than the other way around or worse yet, all 3 of them going back to the crate.
