BYC Café

It is hard to imagine the world today when people you went to high school with 45 years ago die and then you are expected to go to their funeral. I am not on facebook so they are very distant memories to me-- no contact for many years!

I do feel sad for them though.
Exactly.
Having many memories, both good and bad, about those people and times.

I haven't had contact with anyone from High school since I graduated. Well that isn't quite true, one guy happened to go to the same college I did so I saw him there on occasion.

The only college person I had contact with after graduation was my roommate of 3 years. He died from cancer a year ago. :(

For some reason this just cracked me up.

Good morning Cafe and thanks for the coffee Shad.

I haven't been in contact either of the brothers for a good 30 years and now he wants me to call him?!?!
I would just send a condolence card. I avoid drama and negativity at all costs. More so now than ever. If you feel bad for them, a condolence card is the way to go. Especially if you think they haven't really changed.

Avoiding the drama, and drugged drunkenness, is why we lost touch long ago.
Condolence card was first thought, but I don't have an address and not sure I want to bother finding one.

I use FB to keep in touch with my own family, and did some searching and found one of their sisters has an active page. Thought about sending a condolence message, but<shrugs> she probably doesn't even remember me. It was kinda fun to see some pics from their family and my old brother-buddies. Gaawwd we're all so old!
Life is bittersweet, contemporaries dying certainly brings thoughts of our own mortality to the forefront...not to mention the past deaths of those closer.

PM her and explain who you are and that you'd like to send a condolence card and see if she'll give you a mailing address. By using FB she can check out you and your contacts if you have that open for her to see and she can verify your identity before giving out the address. Just a thought.

It's usually better than the alternative.
