Oh yeah. I forgot to mention the cool thing I saw when I was up on the scaffolding working on the east side of the addition.
I heard one of the hens shriek in the pen and then Fabio sent up the definitive "HAWK" alert and everyone started screaming and running. I turned around to look DOWN on the hawk gliding over the pen. It was very cool to see but that guy was pretty big from my point of view. Clearly not on an attack approach but more a recon mission. I screamed "GET OUTTA HERE!" (fat lotta good that did but hey, it's something) and it sailed past me and flew off through the woods. Didn't see it again.
I honestly think that Fabio's shear size is something of a deterrent to the hawks.

Coop mystery this morning.
Light was on out there when I got up, and shouldn't have been.
Somehow the timer got turned to 2 hours ahead.
Not sure HTH that happened<scratcheshead>
Glad it was something simple.

Figured out tonight I must have bumped it while unplugging the fan cord.

I'm going to try hugelkulter in my garden. Not so much a hill (the "hugel") as a big trench full of wood and other debris to compost.

This is in my sandy soil garden. I don't think I could move that much dirt in the heavy soil garden.

Bonus: this was the potato bed and I've found some more potatoes as I've been digging along.

We had a thunderstorm roll through last night and I'm happy to report, no leaking in the roofing. But wow, is there a lot of splash back from the valleys. I really need gutters installed.

Thanks for the coffee! I am heading off into the forest with a friend and her firewood cutting permit to cut her firewood for the season. At least I don't have to touch the slash
because that is what she does for her part. Enjoy the day!
