BYC Café

We are real fortunate there is a small produce store only several years in Chehalis.
took off greatly when the only grocer closed.
Has gone through a few owners the current one has even expanded to fresh meat and dairy.
He keeps apples to tomato lettuce loose to cauliflower and brussle sprouts loose.

Good evening, Café! I brought coffee this time. Gonna get a bit wild with it being Friday and all. Might stay up past my bedtime :lau I also brought a couple chicken pictures to share:

I think I shared this on snapchat, hence the writing on it. All fun and games except I forget about those dirty buggers up there and do, indeed, need an umbrella  Got my wool hat and my oil skin coat, but somehow missed all my crazy hair, lol. Happily.

You can't see it, but just out of frame on the right, I've got one arm holding up this pipe and the other trying to take pictures of these goofy girls. It was funny because one jumped up, so I set the drill down and grabbed my phone. Then another jumped up...then another. I thought I'd better get the clamp on before the roost was full and I couldn't hold it and run a screw in at the same time! Ha.

Hope everyone enjoyed their week. One day left of the year. Some hard lessons learned in 2022. We sure pay for our educations, don't we? One good whack with Sour and Maggie's 2x4 might have been easier to take! It would've been a lot quicker, in any case :p I'm ready for the newness of 2023. Bring it on, baby.

What are you penning in there? Other than chickens!
Your new place is looking good, Meg!

Good morning Cafe. A fresh pot of coffee is on.

I've got lots of cooking/baking to do today and want to get another crate of pallet scrap put up. The one I got yesterday was really wet and I had to "sticker stack" it so it can dry. I won't be able to burn it this season so I need to make sure the next crate is dry.

Good morning Cafe! Thanks for the coffee DL!

I was sleeping on the couch last night - sometimes a change in location helps me fall asleep when my mind is racing - and Buoy was on the hunt and driving me nuts! Glad he does his job though, as he somehow managed to mortally wound a field mouse through the door to the cellar 😂 (there’s a space on the bottom) and then snatched it up and ran under the table with his prize. He doesn’t eat them, just gums them up a little, but he also doesn’t like to drop them right away. That’s two mice in three days - we don’t usually have many (he typically gets about 5-7 a year), but with the warm fall and recent cold snap, they appear around this time of year. None of them ever make it on to counters and into food as the dog does his job well. They don’t make it past the doors.
