BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

It's been snowing lightly since yesterday at around 5. It's just over freezing so the snow is slowly melting and compacting. There are maybe 2 compacted inches now. Snow is supposed to continue throughout the day at a light rate. I anticipate waiting it out and letting the sun take care of clearing the driveway tomorrow.

(I’m in need of a break).
I hear you there. Yesterday was very busy and I'm still tired!

I am over the worst of the coughing which honestly wasn't that bad. More annoying than anything but it was/is fatiguing me. I found out my sister's entire family was also not feeling well. And then found out 5 days ago they've got Covid. Again.

Sister also called yesterday to tell me our mother broke her hip by standing up. She does absolutely nothing but sit/recline on the couch watching TV or sleeping for about 22 hours a day. She must get up to shower, eat and use the bathroom. I guess that is what you get when you live such a sedentary lifestyle for the last 2.5 decades expecting everyone around you to do everything for you.

I was shocked at the amount of tartar that she picked off the back of his lower incisors.
I was told some years ago by a hygienist that there is a salivary gland just behind your lower incisors. Creates plaque all night long. If you get it off before it hardens, so much the better. Now the first thing I do after getting up in the morning (ok, the second thing) is brush my teeth paying particular attention to that area.

Getting the aides to brush his teeth in the morning would be impossible. They barely remember to do it at night.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee. I brought some hot cross buns. Nuke them for 10 seconds, and they are really good - okay, it is an acquired taste.
That little puppy is a freaking smarty pants!
I have Alexa programmed to remind me to give Skittles his heart medication at 10:00 every night. Piper hears her say the reminder, hops off the couch and runs over to the cabinet that I keep the peanut butter and medication in and sits down and waits. She knows she and Bella get some peanut butter after Skittles gets his pill.
These are some of the 'automatics' I still miss about Maggie. Open the freezer for ice, and she would be there for her ice cubes. Bring out the TV tables and await her ferocious attack - she just knew they were dangerous. 3:30 PM stare indicating that it was her supper time. Her staring out the picture window quivering with anticipation when we arrived home ----------------------------------

Sorry to hear about your Mom, DL.
That is a rough go for anyone.
I don't wish any harm or pain on her but she's not been part of my life for nearly 2 years. But my sister feels compelled to tell me. It's my sister I feel bad for because she has to shoulder all the extra burdens this will generate.
