Why add the salt if no fishes to buffer for?
Saline will never go away.
To acclimate the plants to it. It will go away when I do partial water changes or if I get enough rain to overflow the pond. So I'll have to add it back if I want to keep the salinity the same.

Salt for the plants? Thought it was because of the Ph and the fish.

I'm adding the salt ahead of the fish to acclimate the plants because the pond will have salt in it.
The salt is strictly to aid the slime coat on the fish when I do get them and it helps with stress. I just can't have a lot because of the plants. If there were no plants in the water, putting the salinity up to 0.3-0.5% is better for the fish.
