That, or another, turkey vulture was back this afternoon. Landed on a high branch and was scoping something out....then I noticed one of the tiny fawns wandering in the back field.
Hmmm.....don't think turkey vultures hunt live meat, but <shrugs>
They don't, but black vultures do.

Right, that's what I thought, this was definitely a turkey vulture.......don't think we have the black ones here.

More 'out the window' adventures here today.
Heard something, saw young ground hog nibbling on the rubber snake tail.
Slowly opened window, it heard and moved but stayed in range even when rifle came out window. One shot and done! Fell down hole in filter valve cover so I had to reach in and grab it(after good poke to make sure it was dead.) Glad it didn't go too far, would hate to have one die and rot where I couldn't reach it.....tho might that keep any others from moving in?
Arrow is where the valve hole is:

I hit a ground hog on our road a couple weeks ago. It died at the edge of the road, under a big pine tree. We have lots of turkey vultures, but for some reason, they didn't find it. Oh, wow! did it stink! Finally, something found it and hauled it away.

We didn't do our full walk for over a week, because it stank too much to get within 30 feet of it.

Yeah, I don't want that here....20' from my back door.

I chuck all the dead bodies in a certain spot in my woods 200' downwind from the house....the 'Body Buffet'. They almost always disappear within a day or 2, not sure by what. Always thought it would be interesting to set up a game cam to see, but I don't have one and not interested enough to buy one.

I considered going out with a big shovel and chucking it into the alfalfa field next to the road. The turkey vultures would be able to see it then.

When I hit it, it wasn't an injury that broke open the skin, I guess. It blew up like a balloon. :sick
