Heading to Gettysburg today on the way to VA for DD1's wedding Saturday. Will wave in your general direction as we pass through Binghamton @DobieLover

I gained a Rhode Island Red cockerel from as local member.
We may, or may not, gain a 2 month old Easter Egger (sold, of course as an Ameraucana by the farm and yard store) from the people who are coming to feed our animals while we are gone.

Have to decide if I want to deal with the resulting roosters if we let any broodies hatch replacement birds. I have 20 now and the 4 oldest are 8 years old, the EE is still laying regularly. In the past I've gotten 6 hatchery chicks every couple of years. Could maybe get some dark green layers from the 2 Welsummers, blue layers from the 5 EEs (1 of which is supposed to be a Black Ameraucana but has 5 toes per foot).

But you don't quite eat your meat alive now either, aren't you? :p
Excellent point!

don't think we have the black ones here.
Apparently they have moved into southern Vermont :(

Right, that's what I thought, this was definitely a turkey vulture.......don't think we have the black ones here.

More 'out the window' adventures here today.
Heard something, saw young ground hog nibbling on the rubber snake tail.
Slowly opened window, it heard and moved but stayed in range even when rifle came out window. One shot and done! Fell down hole in filter valve cover so I had to reach in and grab it(after good poke to make sure it was dead.) Glad it didn't go too far, would hate to have one die and rot where I couldn't reach it.....tho might that keep any others from moving in?
Arrow is where the valve hole is:

Well if you'd stop leaving out the metal bowls upside down on your driveway for them to come play bongo drums with, maybe they'd stop coming around?
I hit a ground hog on our road a couple weeks ago. It died at the edge of the road, under a big pine tree. We have lots of turkey vultures, but for some reason, they didn't find it.
Something found that big boy Bella got the other day. I ran into the border collie trio out on my run yesterday and all the dogs went to the spot of the kill.

HA!
Those are my rain chimes, on the back patio not the driveway.
They don't mess with them.
GH prefer to play with the rubber snake and the concrete carveture on the bench.

We didn't do our full walk for over a week, because it stank too much to get within 30 feet of it.

Yeah, I don't want that here....20' from my back door.
Funny we were discussing this yesterday.
Last night I thought I caught of wiff of dead animal, it's stronger this morning.
No clue where/what the hell it is, but I'd bet that's what that vulture was doing hanging around.
Wish he'd find it and ring his friends to clean it up.
