BYC Café

Good morning, Cafe'. Can't believe that I am the first here this morning. I've brewed the coffee.
About time, don't you think? :caf

Thank you.

Good evening Cafe!

This year my broodies hatched 9 cockerels and 16 pullets. Two cockerels have been butchered already, so just 7 males left in a bachelor flock. I will have to wait and observe a while longer to pick the ones that will be allowed to stay and move in with the main flock for further education.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

C spent the night with sis's family Friday and texted me yesterday around dinner time that he would be spending the night again last night.

I got up last night/this morning in the wee hours (in my tighty whities) to take Piper out to pee then get a drink of water. Went back to bed. Got up this morning to tend to normal morning chores. Noticed C's car in the driveway. Checked phone. He texted last night that he would be coming home to sleep after all.

So I learned two things:
- don't leave my bedroom without pants on.

- My dogs are the world's worst guard dogs. Not one of them alerted me that someone had come into the house in the wee hours of the night. C could have been an axe murderer for crying out loud!

Lovely gentle rain showers last evening to celebrate the end of the heat wave...
....and it rained pretty much all night.

Another broody crated last night at lockup.

Bummed the US is out of the World Cup.
Was a hell of a game tho and if their goalie hadn't been so damn good, SMH.
Damn shame that Rapino's last pro kick was a penalty shot that went over the goal.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! Foggy and chilly out there...high of 62 F is what they are saying. Rain...you know the drill. I might just have to think fondly of the 2 week 115F ++ experience!
DH is having fun with the phone. I texted all of his friends saying that he now has a functional number in the social world and I think that is good. DS$ said, "Wait! Is this Old?" The boys and DH call each other "Young" and "Old" for whatever reason. LOL!
I am supposed to cut trees down for a solar project today. Perfect weather for that at least.
Have fun and enjoy the day, Cafe!

Exhausted after loading the truck with goats and chickens Friday night. Sleepng about 2 hours, getting up at 6 am, loading the rest of the truck. Driving 2 hours to the swap. Hot and sunny day, was very glad i brought the canopy. Sold one goat, could have sold another, but she seemed off to me. Traded 3 cockerels for 3 pullets. Left around noon. Visited a friend to remove the spurs on her cockerel. Drove home. Almost fell asleep a dozen times. Drank lots of caffeine, slapped myself in the face multiple times. Once i got home and put the animals away, did a lot of sleeping. That's still all i want to do. But that one baby goat needed...something. i stopped on the way home and bought Vit E with selenium. Gave her some right away. Then once i got home, i tried to bottle feed her some electrolytes. I had to hold her head up and hold the bottle in place. She would drink what leaked out. I nearly fell asleep feeding her as we sat on the barn floor.
I got half a cup in her and went back to the house and slept. Woke up a while later, went up to the barn and did it again. This heat is hurting everything. Feels like 96° here right now. I need to go check her again, along with all the animals. Getting too old for this stuff.
I decided she might be thiamine deficient, so i gave her an injection last night. You have to be your own vet unless you're rich.
