How often is one supposed to do that?

I've heard every 3 years. We don't get it done nearly that often. I think the last time was 7 years ago?

It's just two of us here, plus Freya. And the chickens. Water for the animals doesn't go down the drain. We do have a reverse osmosis filter, though, and I've heard that they use 3 gallons of water to make one of filtered water.

I just got my first quote for taking down that widow maker arrangement that will take out my shed and damage my solar panels if it comes down. Just $900 to drop them. I was ready to pay twice that because they have to bring in a lift to get them down. I asked him if he can push over some other small, dead trees that are on that section of my property and he said he would and it wouldn't be that much more because it would only take a few minutes to do.

I can't be bothered. I can get chipped/shredded wood for free my the truck load. I'll eventually cut it up and burn it outside.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! Rain again yesterday so the day went as planned. Today is sunny with no rain, they say. High of 70F. I will finish the tree trimming and bucking so that we can start the chipping. Bring home the firewood and DONE, hopefully by this weekend, with that particular project.

It's not the amount of water you run thru, it's the solids accumulation.
A good tank drainer will tell you the level of solids in the bottom to give you a good idea of how often.
Guess it might depends on what kind of system you have, mines' an old fashioned concrete tank and drain field.
