BYC Café

Good afternoon, and thanks for the coffee @DobieLover :caf

Since we butchered 4 of the 7 cockerels on Friday, the crowing stopped as the remaining 3 are busy sorting out their new hierarchy.
I would have wanted them to put on more weight and harvest them around 5-6 months of age, but with all the running and fighting they hardly gained any despite devouring enormous amounts of feed.
We just kept the breast meat for ourselves and let the dogs have the rest as the cockerels consisted of almost just long legs, big wings, innards and feathers.

We might try some French Bresse next year as they grow much faster than La Fleche.
A friend acquired some hatching eggs when visiting breeder friends in France last year, and he is very pleased with the outcome and highly recommends them.

It is the grey square like things I am talking about
Those are 4x4 posts that was already up for the wooden structure. I took that the other night right around dusk

Good morning everyone!
Yesterdays projects that was either completed or work in progress. Main project done- POOL UP and being FILLED, outside cooking station floor in the works (ran out of deck boards) and fire wood holders built and wood stacked. Also got a couple of pine trees in front of house limbed up so NO squirrels will be getting on the roof anymore.
@CapricornFarm where exactly in Southern Virginia do you live? and Where do you sell all the ceramic stuff you make? What else do you make besides coffee mugs?
I live exactly in the middle of the woods near the Pigg River. The closest town is Gretna, VA. You can't see any other houses from our log cabin. To get here, you follow a dirt road, turn onto another dirt road, and go to the end. We love it here.
Still working on finding places to sell my ceramics. If you look at my avatar, it shows my largest piece so far, a light tower. I throw bowls, plates, mugs etc. on the wheel. Building things by hand is my favorite method.
I have an album on BYC that shows some of my completed pieces. And i have a thread here under hobbies that also shows some of my creations.
Currently working on a Sea Serpent, a big gnome, and a pumpkin.
