Good Morning, Cafe’!
Busy day yesterday as we got up early and took the two grands to a huge threshing show that we have gone to for many, many years. (When our boys were growing up, we’d camp there, but that hasn’t worked in our schedule for quite some time now.)
Heading to the “big town” to buy lumber today, as DH is running out, and needs more for his “projects”. Grandson lately has been wanting to spend his time in Grandpa’s shop when they come visit, and because Big Brother does it, Granddaughter does, too. (The girl LOVES power tools!) Last year DH built treasure boxes for all the kids for Christmas. This year he’s thinking of making little rocking chairs for the two youngest (10 months and 4 months). He also made bunk beds for the older girls for their stuffies and dolls, and Lego base boxes for the older boys. He’s not a fancy woodworker, more of a putterer, but the kids love it.
All the talk about weddings - ours was simple. Bought my dress on sale, ceremony was at the little country church DH grew up in, reception was held at the little Bible camp we both grew up attending (No dance, just a supper and cake). DH had hired someone with a ‘57 Cadillac to take us from the church to the reception. In the middle of the ceremony, there was a big BANG outside the church. The guy with the Caddy has had the brakes worked on the day before, and they were adjusted wrong. So when he drove out to the church, the rear tire had gotten too hot and exploded. So my grandpa got to drive us there in the red ‘78 Ford pickup that DH drove throughout our 3 years of dating. (It seemed fitting.) The smile on Grandpa’s face when we asked him to drive us was priceless.
