BYC Café

We're NOT going to have a big wedding and we're going to do the ceremony and reception all in one place, doing a buffet style menu of BBQ food, not even going to have a DJ just play music from our phones [making a list of different songs plus going to have guests add to the song list]!!! TRYING TO KEEP IT AS CHEAP AS WE CAN!!! We're going to wait on the honeymoon until end of November/ beginning of Dec seeing how we're going to be going to VA Beach just so I can experience the Christmas light show they allow cars to drive on the boardwalk at that time. It's something we have wanted to do.
Sounds like a great time! :celebrate

I can honestly tell you I don't remember much of my wedding. We had a lunch out, I went to a flower shop of a bouquet (scared the woman when I said, "I'm getting married in half an hour and I need some flowers!":lau), walked to the courthouse, took a picture on the steps, did the thing, and went home.

And that was a VERY low key wedding. I wonder what brides who do the big to-do and have to worry about their hair/makeup/shoes/dress/etc. remember?

I made my wedding dress out of material that had been curtains in my apartment. White broadcloth sundress, with red buttons and ribbon... just in case people were wondering why I was wearing white when we'd been living together for a year.

Good Morning, Cafe’!
Busy day yesterday as we got up early and took the two grands to a huge threshing show that we have gone to for many, many years. (When our boys were growing up, we’d camp there, but that hasn’t worked in our schedule for quite some time now.)

Heading to the “big town” to buy lumber today, as DH is running out, and needs more for his “projects”. Grandson lately has been wanting to spend his time in Grandpa’s shop when they come visit, and because Big Brother does it, Granddaughter does, too. (The girl LOVES power tools!) Last year DH built treasure boxes for all the kids for Christmas. This year he’s thinking of making little rocking chairs for the two youngest (10 months and 4 months). He also made bunk beds for the older girls for their stuffies and dolls, and Lego base boxes for the older boys. He’s not a fancy woodworker, more of a putterer, but the kids love it.

All the talk about weddings - ours was simple. Bought my dress on sale, ceremony was at the little country church DH grew up in, reception was held at the little Bible camp we both grew up attending (No dance, just a supper and cake). DH had hired someone with a ‘57 Cadillac to take us from the church to the reception. In the middle of the ceremony, there was a big BANG outside the church. The guy with the Caddy has had the brakes worked on the day before, and they were adjusted wrong. So when he drove out to the church, the rear tire had gotten too hot and exploded. So my grandpa got to drive us there in the red ‘78 Ford pickup that DH drove throughout our 3 years of dating. (It seemed fitting.) The smile on Grandpa’s face when we asked him to drive us was priceless.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

The heat (and humidity 🤮) arrive today.

Work continues to progress on the bathroom but I need an extra pair of hands today to hold an plumbing assembly together for me before I can continue.

I have to make ANOTHER Lowe's run today! I thought a 25-pk of cinch clamp rings would be enough. Nope. And I'm short by about 2' of pex so I need to just get a stick of it, not a full roll. And more PVC strap tape to support the new bathroom drains.

This is exactly why hubby HATES plumbing.

When he buys stuff for a plumbing project, he buys a lot of "extra stuff" that he might need. I make a point of saving the receipt so that I can return everything he doesn't use.

I'm well within the window of not needing my receipt to return whatever I bought there. I always use my Lowe's credit card so they can just look it up there. I want to return the 4-in hole saw that I used for about 10 seconds before I realize it was going to twist my arm off. I ended up cutting the hole with a sawzall on the fein saw. That hole saw was over $40!
