BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

Yesterday was DHs 70th birthday. I bought a little cake for us to "share". I ended up giving about 3/4 of it to the staff to enjoy after we were done with it.

I left a message with the administration office yesterday and no one called back. I asked at the nurses desk where the offices were and told them why I wanted to know. I said that if something isn't done to help DH with his neck and that he wasn't better cared for I would be submitting a complaint of neglect to the State.
I will be calling the Admin office again today.
Happy belated birthday to your DH. It is sad how nursing homes are run. I worked in one before i became a nurse. Sometimes i had 25 people to care for, including feeding some of them. They never seem to have enough staff.

there will be a 20-30 kWh daily drop
Is that what it takes to charge an electric vehicle? I never, ever hear that on the ads. Or, more importantly, what is the cost at a charging station? NEVER do they say, oh, my recharge was $20. Or $5 or $50.

My electric bill has an average use/cost per day on it. We usually average 11-12 kWh. This month, with canning a lot of stuff (electric stove), it might be 13 kWh/day average.

I'm flying with Piper out west

And where will Skittles and Bella stay?

up to stay with @Meg-in-MT for a few days!

That is great! I bet you will have such a good time together! Please, say hello for me and that I still miss her very much.

He has fleas! WTH? So they are stopping at a dog wash place on the way home and will treat him as soon as he gets home.

Ewww. So he might have shared some with your dogs as well?

Okay, I'm back and caught up. Not certain when you leave, DL, but have a great trip - you have more than earned it. I brewed a pot of coffee as I was in caffeine withdrawal. Only had a partial cup early this morning because - well, if you were an 82 year old male you would understand - no need to share details. We had a great/relaxing time. Even were lucky enough to see a relatively newborn colt out on Assateague.

At home with my housemate. M&S will get her on the weekends so she and their new dog can get to know each other.

I will! I'm sure we'll share pictures too...

M called me immediately when they figured this out and I treated my own with flea and tick prevention.

That is terrible!

I wish you could post pictures...

Sounds like a shoddy job that should be redone at no cost to you.

Ah, I see the large decrease in animals plan is being implemented :gig

Where are you going Tonya? Back to the horseshoe crab beach?

$1 would be an adjustment for me!!!! But the guys are coming Monday morning at 7  to install 2 compressors and heat exchangers in the 2 hot air furnaces - one propane, one fuel oil. I suspect we'll be seeing a charge on the electric bill that isn't negative or covered by summer excess solar production. Doesn't help that the company keeps adding/increasing "fees" unrelated to usage.

DW will be 65 in 3.5 years and can retire (and importantly be medicare eligible) so there will be a 20-30 kWh daily drop when she isn't driving 70 miles 7 days a week (6 to work, 1 to visit her parents).
I knew you would say that. But i have 5 goats to take to the big sale next week. Need a buck to make kids to sell.
Mostly planning on getting rid of chickens.

Good Evening, Cafe’!
Week 2 of school is done. I’m sure glad we started with two 4-day weeks. Five days is going to be brutal.
DH and I are on our way to visit our two grandsons, ages 3 and 10 months. We haven’t seen them since June, so it will be fun to see how much little dude has changed, and to hear how the older one likes preschool. (When I called him on his first day and asked, after talking about everything but school, he finally said, “I can’t answer you. I’m struggling.” It was so funny coming out of his mouth!
Stopped to check on broody before we left. One egg was on the floor, covered in yolk, and there were only 2 yolk covered eggs in the nest. I left her, but don’t have much hope. It’s fine. I don’t need more chicks right now, anyway.

The beach house in DE is a spring time vacation site. I decided not to go this spring with all I've had to go through.

I'm flying with Piper out west. I start in Denver CO and stay with a friend there for a few days then drive through WY with an overnight in Casper at a VRBO place. Then we will explore as much of Grand Teton National Park as I can on the way to Idaho Park and my next VRBO spot. Then about 4 days exploring Yellowstone then up to stay with @Meg-in-MT for a few days! Then we fly out of Bozeman. About 2 weeks total.
Meg just had one wild child visit her so she's been conditioned for Piper's arrival! Chickie and Nahla will have their paws full with her.
Wishing you a great trip!

All the fixings for your morning "wake me up hug in a mug" cup is sitting next to the coffee pot so fix a cup then enjoy the patio while it's cool (only 67 right now), gather your thoughts while listening to the birds sing their morning song. Just don't pay any mind to my 2 dogs in the outside kennel flipping out about something (more than likely a deer or two passing through the yard).

Good morning Cafe. Fresh pot of coffee is ready.

Not much work got done on the bathroom yesterday so today I intend to putter in there most of the day. Goal is to replace one more old piece of drywall and get the entire room taped and mudded to the first layer and finish installing all the drains and glue them together. Then I really need to consider cleaning this house. What a disaster area!
