BYC Café

Have successfully avoided the familial holiday crap for years,
now my daughter brings it back into play.
No way to escape?

When we got home from my FIL's (the trip to Charlotte), I realized just how stressful that trip was. The stress between him and his wife at times hung in the air. And we all just pretended it wasn't there.

Hubby will NOT get rid of any of his books. We built a bookshelf that took up an entire wall to house the stacks of books on the floor. There was a bit of space left. Now we're back to having stacks -- 10? -- three feet high again.

I've been taking some of my once-read books to Goodwill when I go into town. The Goodwill store is close to the grocery store, so I can take an armful fairly often. But it hasn't really made a dent.
My books are in my office, my DW has only asked that I slow down and thin out. A shelf or two belongs to my son, his mother my ex won't allow any clutter what so ever even though she doesn't clean?

Been racking my brain, but hard to tell your drama inclined offspring you don't want them to visit.
Yeah.

I thought for a while that my lack of a chicken sitter would keep me home. (YAY!) Then neighbor said she wasn't having her surgery until December. (ok...)

The trip was worth it though, as I got to meet Diane, DH's college friend who has cancer. That was very much the high point of the journey.

She was told she has 6-18 months to live about 7 months ago. Yeah, that sucks. The painting she gave me is something I'll treasure forever.
