BYC Café

I have the same rooster scenarios here. One is a Black Sex Link that turns on the charm calling the hens when I give him a treat. He drops it on the ground for them. Other roosters gobble it down. He has several sons that look like him and 3 of them hang out with him. They are almost as big as he is now and he feeds them. He won't feed other roosters though. I'm just surprised he feeds sons who have sisters laying.
My big Amrock rooster stopped feeding his three sons some 4-6 weeks ago and started to chase them away from feed and his favourite hens. The sons will be 26 weeks old tomorrow.

But I suspect the wild one to be the son of his half brother whose character was pretty nasty even with the hens. As soon as I butchered him, peace was restored among the flock and all the hens relaxed noticeably.

So his suspected son will follow suit soon.

the solar blanket is going in over the pool air pillow to finalize the winterization of the pond.
Will this keep the pond from freezing?
Will it also allow for air circulation?

Computer still ailing, am suffering from the loss of one of my favorite depression distractions.

It will still freeze but not solid. I'm going to keep the waterfall going as long as possible. There is an air diffuser in front of the skimmer. All circulation is now going over the top of the pond.
I have to keep a hole in the ice all winter for air exchange to keep the fish alive.
The blanket drapes over the air pillow and is anchored with stones around the perimeter so there is plenty of air under it around the pillow.

Good morning Café. Coffee is ready.

I never took the CL ad down when Digit was claimed and someone replied to it last night. I told them he was gone but that I had a younger smaller BO mix needing a home. They said they'd take him so I'm meeting them this morning. Lucky break.
