BYC Café

Good Morning, Cafe’

Busy day yesterday. DS #2 and family are still here. (He and his wife are the parents of our 2 youngest grandsons.) We made our traditional Lefse for Christmas. My grandma grew up with it and made it for our family every year for the family celebration. She taught me how to make it when I was 12. DH’s ancestors came from the same part of Norway as mine did, so he grew up with the same tradition. I’m hoping it will be passed down when we are no longer here to do it. When my sons were growing up, it was a big day. We would have my grandma, MIL, mom, step-dad, SIL and her husband, our sons, DH and me. Yesterday it was DH, DS and kids, my mom and our two local grandkids. (Their dad had to work and Mom had other plans for the day.) It was a super fun day. The 4 and 6 year olds were super great helpers and very interested. The 3 year old has the attention span of your typical 3 year old, but he helped a little. The - year old was content to sit with my mom until his nap time. We also celebrated the baby’s first birthday. DS and family will be heading home today. Grandpa and Grandma will likely have a quiet afternoon…

I hope you all have a most wonderful day!
That is lovely!

Hubby is going to have turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy once more. I'm done with turkey until it resurfaces in chili. I'm having loaded oatmeal (oatmeal with cinnamon, raisins, and bananas) for dinner.

We have "creaky" snow here. Wet and heavy. If we go to the store tomorrow, hubby is driving me in the Jeep. Unless all the snow melts by tomorrow afternoon.

The oatmeal sounds delicious.

We finished off the stuffing and mashed potatoes tonight. There is still some turkey, cranberries and sweet potatoes left. Oh, and one “Chelsea” roll that DIL made. They’re like a Thanksgiving meal rolled up in a roll like you would make cinnamon rolls. These had shredded turkey, stuffing and cranberries in them. Super good, fresh out of the oven! Haven’t tried reheating yet.

I could go for a plate of that!
I've had this for 4 days in a row. The widow across the street is constantly feeding me! I can't complain as she is a great cook. I had her Thanksgiving dishes Thursday and Friday and my sister's Saturday and Sunday.
