That lab I would take in a heartbeat. She is a special dog. She is so tolerant of the little PITA. She's my grandson's dog (he is away at college) and I have told him that he has already had his once in a lifetime dog - she's that special.

There is a leather folder/file next to the computer desk. The kids know that it contains all our vital information. Laila has decided that it is a chew toy.

Yeah, I figured it was. The latest update on my nieghbor is that she is doing much better. She's been moved to a different room and is "mostly tube free, but still having trouble breathing." She'll be in the hospital a couple more days.

Got my “Christmas corner” done. I used to go all out and decorate the whole house. Practically every flat spot had some sort of decoration on it. But we aren’t having the family here for Christmas this year (my mom rented an AirBnB for all of us next weekend), and we haven’t had the big annual “Christmas at the Farm” with my extended family since Covid (it was starting to fade after my grandma passed away anyway), so this is it. It brings me joy. I haven’t had a real tree for several years.

I still need a tree skirt and thought I wanted to get some blue lights for the tree, but now I’m rethinking the lights. I kind of like it this way.

Looks very pretty to me. Sad how family traditions fall to the wayside after the older generation leave us. This world just doesn't seem to be geared towards family anymore.

It’s a lot of work! After my mother passed away , I took over Christmas preparations for 3 years, it was hard work, 4 young kids, a kitchen ( especially the stove and oven) I‘m not used to, and 12 persons to cater to, for 3 days it was stressful ( for me) I lived about 200 miles away from my parents, packing up a 6-person household and a dog, then cooking for everyone ( I did the baking before and took it along) at least my father did the shopping ( I sent him a shopping list) but I had to buy the fresh products, kind of hard, 1 day before Christmas, the stores were packed and the shelves bare

It looks like those who waited until today to shop are going to do it in the rain. We have a big wall of rain coming right at us along with a Tornado watch until 8:00am.

I‘ve got almost perfect vision in my left eye ( with glasses) but would need to get both eyes operated on, cos the difference between the eyes would be too big ( 12 diopters) if I just get one fixed

I don't understand this. One eye fixed with glasses, the other by the operation, no?

Nah, she's just carrying it to her suitcase so she can give it to her "parents" when they get back.

Good morning Café. Coffee is ready.
I spent most of yesterday evening at my sister's snacking on the fruit/veggie and meat/cheese trays they had out while we trimmed their tree. Family tradition.
Our plans to soak in the hot tub were tossed aside because everybody was overheated in the house. It was 54° last night! That changes tonight.

I could do without the tree, but hubby wants it, so we do. We'll put it up Christmas Eve, and then I'll have to take it down mid-January, just to get it out of the way.

We stopped buying gifts many years ago, but still give small things to friends, homemade goodies, usually.

A couple years ago, we did spend some money on gifts, but it was a very grateful Christmas, full of gratitude, as a dear friend (we call her our daughter) had beaten lymphoma.
