I was wondering where my Candy Corn Polish hen was last night, since she wasn't on the perch with her rooster. Alas, she was sitting on a pile of eggs in a corner! Polish usually don't sit, but when they do they are often poor mothers. I am not trying to increase my flock, as I plan to sell the rest of the chickens. Nature seems to have other plans.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee!
Okay, so we lost nary a tree or a branch in yesterday's gale...
The temps are above freezing and now we have graupel that likes to pelt us.
We have snow coming in and a low of 7F tomorrow night and then back up to 50F on Thursday with..., breezes all week long.
I have to take my friend to the doc today and the roads should be good with the warmer temps.
Just always something going on, I tell ya! Enjoy the day, Cafe!

These ae bantam chickens and I made my nesting boxes a little to big.

Being bantams, they will keep this crap up every season. Get the crate set up.
Unless you marked all the eggs in the clutch when the first hen finally committed, you have no idea the stage of development that the rest are at. The hatch will be staggered. That's never a good situation.

Have a plan and the tools set up to get some displaced gravel into the holes the plow left.
Hoping that lasts to get the job done today before the deluge descends and makes the holes bigger.

...and I DID IT!!
Planned tools and technique worked out great.
Got the main holes filled before back and stamina tanked.

The trackpad on my laptop is crapping out.

I ordered a new one. I'll replace it when it comes in and hope that fixes the issue.

My sister has been struggling with alcohol for quite a while. Our maternal grandfather and our mother were both alcoholics. Early last winter I told her "something inside you is broken and you need to fix it." Now something inside me is very broken too.

My sister also suffers from some debilitating joint issues. She just went out on disability. We both thought now would be the perfect time to get her into AA meetings.

I drove her to her first meeting this afternoon and went in with her because it was an open meeting. She was the only female there! However, I was thoroughly impressed with the meeting and the men there that supported her. I told her I hope she continues to go to that meeting along with other meetings specifically for women.

I have yet to find something for me but I can still access the social worker that handled Dave's case.

In the meantime this is my therapy.

It's strange; mine isn't broody at all. Laid around 3 dozen eggs at this point. Just doesn't get broody.
