[Ladies-Eight]

Back in June I was getting 4-9 a day, with a few nest messes from softies. Then there was a spate of molted feathers. The last couple weeks it's been 3-5, all from the 6 youngest birds.

I have 9 (3 year old) hens that give me 2-3 eggs a day and then I get 5-6 eggs.

They are starting to molt.

Oh, I forgot to mention that one of my two CLB, who are my oldest(~6yo) hens, gives me maybe an egg a week. Not sure if one or both are still laying. Of the two I got yesterday, yes another twofer day, hers was one of them.
I have 13 hens total.

Good afternoon everyone! Back on the map. A lot has happened on my end and I’m sure I’ll have a lot of catching up to do here as well.

In summary:
I was out to sea for two weeks in a 40ft sailboat looking for whales 100Nm offshore (not far from where the Andrea Gail was lost in the Perfect Storm). The ocean was super rough this time and we only had 3 days of half decent conditions for research. Sat through 4 gales - never been out in that much wind before!

But we saw the elusive NW Atlantic orcas.

In the last week I have been getting in Cape Breton getting ready to officially move the last of our stuff west. Found a blue whale in amongst other neat cetacean species.

Perhaps the most exciting thing, I submitted my doctoral thesis on Friday. My defence is on August 19th!

Those 3 days were incredible for photography options! I would have loved to have seen all the things you saw. Your pictures are fabulous.

I carried 5 eggs on a cut glass plate out to Jody. I told them that no self respecting cockerel would be caught dead on such a girlie item. "You will all be girls..." Fire in the hole.
