BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

I went to dinner at M&S's last night. The dogs could smell Brodhi everywhere and Piper kept looking for him.
After dinner Bella and Piper started with their chasing each other shenanigans. Piper was flying around the house with Bella trying and failing to catch her. A great time was had by all.

My entire yard is a lake. Water is flowing everywhere and more rain is coming today and tomorrow before the big freeze hits. What a stinking mess.

I pulled the pond pump yesterday and removed about 10 frogs from the pond and put them in the moat. Where are they all coming from? It's just too cold for them to be hopping through the snow.

Oh no, stay safe when it freezes. Hopefully you have plenty of sand to combat the ice.

Does this affect your basement?
Not at all. One of the first things we did when we bought this house was to build up the soil around the house so it pitched away from the foundation everywhere. And I have downspouts diverting roof runoff at least 5 feet away from the house at every drop.

It's currently draining off through the multiple trenches around the property. The roadside ditches are flowing. Hopefully it will allow the level to drop below the surface before it freezes.

Good morning and thanks for the hot coffee! I am glad that the drought is easing up for you all "up there."
We are supposed to get some breezes (65mph) today but falling temps will make it unpleasant, down to 12F tonight.
After dropping DS$ off yesterday, I went and hung out with my very dear horsey friend for the afternoon. We only seem to be able to see each other a few times a year as she and her DH both have aging parents in different states. She wants to buy a horse with me, put some miles on him, and then sell him in a year if neither of us get attached to him. We have done this before and I am hoping to have more time or maybe TAKE more time to ride. I need to see what my SIL's neurologist appt uncovers and that will help me make that decision. We shall see...

So it's just trapped runoff, not a high water table?

After 16 hours of steady rain, luckily not heavy enough to erode my plow scarred gravel driveway, and enough wind last night to flicker the power.....it's now a warm sunshiney day!
Enjoying the sun, restocked book stack and bonbons today.
Tomorrow rain/snow and plummeting temps....no sun or warmth for the next 9 days(at least). Several snow accumulation days ahead.
