Coffee is ready..... a hot cup of coffee..

Now is cloudy, almost sunless and freezing cold and it will be 7C=45F tonight, that is very cold for us. We got 2 days of no rain, but the strong blowing wind, I had to secure my garden stuff so many times.

There isn't anything to eat on that skinny, bony and super tiny rooster - less than 500g including those fluffy feather.
Euthanize him is the next action so that the illness does not spread to my flock. With my other sick chickens I had them euthanized at the VET as I can not bring myself to do it, it is something that I must gather strength to do eventually.

Mom says she will keep him as she has no chicken at her place, and he is very small so not much work involve....it is yet decided.

Meanwhile, 2 days of Oxymav B, he perked up last night, talk so much, kicking his feed bowl, and this morning made 4 tiny cutie crows, once food and water served he was happily eating and drinking all his medication & turned his head to look at me whenever I walked by. My heart's string is being pull.

My flock is noisy this morning, many are returning to egg laying and fighting over the nest boxes. It is still very cold, but animals and plants know spring is here somewhere, except I can not feel it.

I can say I am in spring season with everyone here too...as my chickens, wild birds, and plants are saying they are in spring already.

We're heading over 90 today. It's miserable weather to be working outside but I'm on a roll getting the knee walls up for my screened in room and I'm not stopping. Lots of ice water should get me through.

@SkyAJK, I would euthanize that poor little bird. You don't have to eat him, just put him out of his misery and bury him. Don't ever go back to a poultry market/swap. There's just too much risk with unethical sellers. I think they prey upon people with compassion and you just can't save the world.

Even if you manage to get him where he's not exhibiting symptoms any longer that doesn't mean he won't be a carrier for life. And he will spread whatever he has to your hens and anytime they come under stress they can get sick again. And you don't know what type of respiratory disease it is he's got.

Yes they are so unethical treating chickens that way, and they are making a living out of these surrendered roosters.

No, I will never go to poultry market ever again!!!

I have friends who do it for me. I don't care what technique is used provided it is quick and humane. HTG is by far the most reliable and he uses a hatchet.

I would get him set up with her then. You would both need to take precautions anytime you visited her or she you to protect your flock but this sounds like the best solution for all.
You should work now to find an ethical breeder for whatever bantam breed from which you want a rooster then when one of your girls goes broody again, give her 6 hatching eggs. Let your flock raise your rooster.

We have a heat advisory today. I need to make a trip to the feed store. Goal today is to finish the framing and sheathing, set the sill boards and prep for siding the exterior walls.

We went to Red Robin for one of my nephews birthday dinner last night. I ordered blackened salmon. It was very overcooked and overpriced for what you got. I've never been to Red Robin before and shall never return unless for a family gathering.

The only tomatoes that have been coming in here are cherry tomatoes and I keep eating them as they ripen. They never even make it into the house!
