Oh and Scoot, if you call your medicaid office, or any shelters..ask them about utilities help. Even call your electric, gas, water, any and all utilities and ask them about discounts, payment plans too. Some of them have rate plans for seniors, and those with disabilites. Try and sign up for any and all programs you can. It helps a great deal. Esp with how everyone is talking about this winter being the highest with heating costs.

Wow, ya'll have snow! Please, please send the snow clouds east! Don't know if SE wants any or not, but you can definitely send snow to western nc! It's been a couple of years since we've had enough here to build a snowball, let alone a snowman.
Chix - no problem. Any of us are glad to help when/where we can!
Scoot - I agree with the others, if we can help w/Christmas or anything, let us know. There was one Christmas that if it weren't for friends & family, our kids would have gone without. We were too proud to ask for help, and didn't really know who to ask anyway. Just know that we are here for you, sis!

Hi all!

Hang in there Scoot! You have chicken lady friends all over the country that will jump in with a little extra help if needed, some way some how!

As for me, all is mostly well here on the home front. A little chilly here in CA (that is, if you consider 54 chilly!) today. My poor Honda mini-van has some major troubles that have just cropped up!! I will be taking it to the dealership this afternoon. NOT a good time for costly repairs (which I suspect it will be) but I need my wheels! It's got 80,000+ miles on it and this is the first problem I've had. Guess I should be pretty thankful for that!

Anyway, I'm finishing up the last little bits of my SS gift. I'd like to get it in the mail by Friday if I can!

SE, are we revealing who we are when we send the box? How will that part work out? Should I send her a note in the box, PM her after the fact or announce it on here? I'm not clear on that part. OOoOooH, such excitement!!!

I just had to share this. Pretty funny. Since I hosted Turkey Day at my house I have had tons of leftovers and each day I give the chickens some leftover this and that. Spacing it out each day. I have 6 laying hens that aren't even a year old yet. I have been getting 5 or 6 eggs a day since I have been giving them those leftovers. Is this a way of telling me thanks or what? I think or I want to believe it.

I think we need to give my little mutt hens a round of applause! I'm so proud of them. Cold and icky out and so much effort!!

My daughter wants to make a snow chicken family!!! She's crazy!!

Chix! That's great. I am betting they are loving the extra fat and protein in this cold.

If your daughter makes a Snow chicken family, mine will make one too and we can have a family photo album!

havn't been able to post hope everyone is doing well, please say a prayer to whatever god or gods you believe in for my new grandson.Its a long story but DD had to have a C section he was over 11lbs and they just med flighted him to the women's & infants they said it was just a precaution cause he wasn't breathing as well as he should. He wasn't breathing when he was born. I'm very frustrated cause I have had the grandchildren and havn't been able to go see them.And I'm only the grandmother so nobody will tell me anything. I have to go give the 6 yr old his shower and get him into bed. will try to post tomorrow
