Morning, everyone! Well, it's morning here for another 32 minutes, anyway. Another chilly morning in beautiful NC!
I was reading the 6 new pages that have been posted since I was here yesterday, and realized that I'm really jealous!

I wish I had found you this summer - then I'd be getting pretty squares in the mail too! That's okay, though, I'll be in on that this spring.
Our student intern just came down the hall with a package of yarn for me! Thanks so much Skand, you are a lifesaver!!!!

I definitely owe you one...
Ris, no fair burning up the kitchen just to keep from having to wash dishes. {Oh, wait, that's what I'd like to do. Nevermind!} Should we send you boxes of salt to put out the next fire?

New yarn, new chicks, blue eggs, and new friends - what could be more fun? (Wait, chicks? eggs? I......will......not......be......converted. I.......will......not......desire......chickens.)

How about we all meet at Skand's house to have a Christmas cookie baking day? We can all bring our crocheting, and Skand can send the fairies to our houses to keep the work caught up! What do you say, SK?

I did a little straighten...you know the kind of pre-cleaning start. Gearing up.... Went through the junk mail pile and now I need to write out some dreaded bills. Can we say PROCRASTINATION!!!!!!!

Sk, don't be jealous, but I DON'T fit it all in. I'm constantly chasing my tail. Never enough time, energy or hours in the day to do what I want. I do try to go to the gym twice a week to keep me sane, but it ain't gonna happen this week. It's about the only thing I try to fit in for myself and it's more like torture than pleasure.

Just kidding!!!!! I love it and I always feel so much better after I go, but always soooo much to do it's soooo easy to feel guielty and try to blow it off.

LC congratulations on getting some new yarn.

SK that was so nice.

That's one of the reasons why I love this thread. Everyone is sooooo nice!!!!!!

Lovemychix~ Yes, I always have a hard time getting going, but once it's going it will be easier b/c there will be more to hold on to than the first 2 rows. Whatcha making?

Whew!!!! This house is a mess. It sure would stay nicer if I shaved all the animals.

OK, I really need to do some real cleaning, not just the straightening stuff.

I'm stuck trying to get my second row of double crochet.

The video I was learning from is confusing me. I think it skipped something.
Is this right? I go to the end and chain 3, turn, skip the first stitch, then continue double crochet across. I'm going to use some of these other links you girls gave me.

sounds right to me, well that is what are you making first. Ummm lets see if I can explain it a little better. once you get to the last stitch to start the next row, you will chain 3, the turn your work, then what you will want to do is insert your hook in to the 5 chain which is ( your chain 3 loops and one stitch skipped) so after you have chain 3 and then turned your work, count from your hook 1, 2, 3, and then 1 stitch, and the insert your hook and start working again. Is that clear as MUD!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!

was looking for a pattern for my squares and found this...though it was neat..
A Trunk Full of Grannies

What to make with Granny Squares:

1. One granny square equals one coaster.

2. One granny square, along with some felt and stuffing, and you'll have a pretty pin cushion.

3. Two granny squares and some felt for padding will produce one potholder.

4. Two large grannies can travel along as a handy beach bag.

5. Two small squares stitched together, then lined with felt, and you'll have a handy home for all those loose needles.

6. Two motifs, tied with ribbons at the sides and shoulders, can be a vest for a favorite doll.

7. Make three tiny granny squares of fine crochet cotton, stitch them together into a strip, and you'll have a gift for the family bookworm.

8. Gather all your knitting worsted yarn scraps together, make four granny squares to cover that "seen better days" sofa pillow.

9. Four granny squares equals an eyeglass case-- 2 squares on each side.

10. Sew six grannies into a two motif by three motif rectangle and you'll have a table mat.

11. Nine tiny granny squares will make a doll house afghan. The best yarn to use here is one strand of three-ply needle point yarn.

12. Nine four-inch granny squares can cover the side of a slightly worn, but oh-so-handy tote. Eighteen squares and you can cover the whole thing!

13. Nine granny squares is also the right size for a seat cushion for the dining room chairs.

14. Sixteen granny squares in rug yarn makes a nice bathroom rug. Figuring four squares by four squares, you can make it larger, if you like.

15. Twenty granny squares makes the perfect welcome mat. This is four squares by five squares for a nice rectangle to fit by the front door.

16. Thirty-two is about the right number of granny squares to cover the old backing on your rocking chair. Figure a four by eight block rectangle; be sure to measure the chair as rockers, of course, differ.

You have now found a home for 122 granny squares.

So, what your saying is, wait till next year, and we should all have plenty to do everything on the list? lol

Wondering... hehehe.. if I add an extra $10 in my box o squares, if a really wonderful person could stitch my squares togather for me?

I have tried a new challenge and I am so far failing miserably...what is the trick to crocheting with the fun fur? I hope the answer isn't "you don't"
wink.png

I am having the darnedest time finding my stitches through all that extra frilly stuff...and I kind of need to figure this out...otherwise my newest project will look kind of silly. (can't tell. it's a surprise)

I got it figured out!! Youtube and that cabana website. That lady was talking about crocheting your 3rd chain stitch at the other end and we just started the beginning of the second row of double crochet. Baby steps for me!!!!

Question???
big_smile.png
I got my single and double and I'm pretty confident that triple will be a breeze for me. See...confindence is already up!!!

What other stitches do I need to work on and what would be a good first project?
