Awesome, well I hope your plan works. my mouth is watering think about all these veggies lol Gardening is nice though can get annoying at times! :)

Yes it can be annoying but if you don't take it sooooo serious, it is fun. Also letting the kids grow an area of their own teaches them the how and why of many things in life. It shows them how their work and effort creates something useful, and gets them off the video games and into the fresh air. (bonus)

Am I the only one that finds it a challenge to garden with chickens?!?!? They eat everything! They eat all my strawberries as soon as the are ripe, peck at my tomatoes and cucumbers, ate my horseradish plant. As soon as I planted my garlic they started to scratch it up. We have to fence it off, which is a pain in the butt.
Challenging?? Oh yes, definitely!
I had to fence my garden since the chickens free range our entire property. I still let them in the garden sometimes, though. I just rig up temporary fencing around the beds that they're not allowed into. They went in yesterday and bathed next to my tomato plants, it's not a problem yet since all the tomatoes are still green. Now I don't have to weed the areas where they bathed. Yay!

This past Sept my 5yr old little girl and I planted our garlic (outside the fence) as I have for yrs. Nothing ever bothered it until now. The following day I looked over the garlic bed and found plants removed, holes dug, and mulch missing.....Chickens! I found myself getting hot under the collar as I'm watching a chicken hop into the bed. My little girl takes my hand and says "those silly chickens". All is well with us and those silly chickens. We just made a few adjustments.

Well glad it all worked out for you!

Hi! I've been helping my parents garden before I could walk. A whole half-acre of our property is a garden. We grow:
- broccoli
- spinach
- green, yellow, and red peppers
- carrots
- cucumbers
- lettuce
- butternut squash
- peas
- cantaloupes
- watermelons
- corn (rainbow and regular corn)
- tomatoes
- radishes
- bush beans
- cabbage
- onions
- red beets
- cauliflower
- zucchini
- eggplant
- celery
- asparagus
- zucchini
- garlic
- pumpkins
- apple trees
- lemon trees
- orange trees
- lime trees

Yes, pretty much everything :) We grow all listed up there in the garden every year.
We started planting, and I'm wondering if I could join this thread? :)

Wow sounds like you have a very good sized garden!

My beans (that are indoors) are sprouting like wild fire. Its crazy they're only a few days old and they're already about 1.5 inches tall, and the biggest one is around five inches tall. Its so awesome!

BTW they are purple beans (They are actually called Royal burgundy bush beans), I eat them raw, they are soooo good,

and easy to grow too! I would highly recommend you all to grow them. They're delicious!

Oh, green beans and pear trees too. I just love fresh veggies and fruit! We do it all organic, too.
