Hellno, buy a new tree,too much PT. graftng is an art.  I have done it trust me not an easy solution.

I've been grafting for two years. I know it's not easy.

Can anyone tell me what kind of bug this is on my fruit trees?

There are actually two of them mating on these leaves.

That came out a bit ruder on my part than I meant it too. The problem is they don't sell cherries here (don't even have a proper nursery.)

Looks to me like a catapillar of some sort. They normally don't go on fruit trees unless you have an infestation of some bug which they can eat - but your tree looks very healthy - maybe they just dropped by for a little time out...

Oh well thats' a problem, perhaps try and cut the tree right down to get some new growth and then graft - but Im sure you know that. Sounds like you know what you are doing so Im sure you will be successful. Actually cherry trees are the best they make beautiful flowers and attract all sorts of birds, so you have to get there before the fruit is devoured!!!!

No not a Caterpillar they fly and are mating is why it looks long.

can I just ask you guys what is Acorn squash - I thought we had every type here but never heard of it...

I've thought of that but it's grafted at the base (the whatever it is goes right into the graft.) my other cherry is suckering at the base so I might let that grow this year and try grafting the one onto that. Yeah they really are. I hope I can get out there before the birds but since neither of them are fruiting yet that doesn't really concern me.

(Ya know it's nice to talk to someone who knows more about fruit trees than I do for once.)
