Last night watered the new winter squash area as we didnt get any rain from the storm. Maybe a good thing as a tornado went with the cell that traveled south of us. They got rain and a tornado; we got nada.

What do you guys think about starting peppers right now? I just opened up a green and red pepper for dinner and of course it's full of seeds. Think they'd be ready before winter?

Yeah I don't suggest it. I have a lone Thai chili I planted two months ago in a pot and it's puny-looking. I won't be getting any peppers from it this season and I don't think you'll have luck unless you live in a tropical climate like Florida.

Peppers are something that grow like weeds where we are.. I have orange, yellow and red and the chooks love them. Also planted chillies (really hot ones) and Henry my roo, took a bite and looked at me as if to say 'OMG these are really hot and soo good, come on girls)

'Consequently I don't have many chillies left. You would think that the heat would come out in the eggs but it doesn'tl

No I don't seem to be bothered with anything, but we do have lots of ticks do you think I should check chooks for ticks? and can they give them tick bite fever? I have had a few sessions with my dogs and they get really sick - even with the frontline stuff. Can you put tick stuff on chickens?

Some of the southwestern hunting preserves plant chilis as part of food plot programs. Apparently deer don't mind them either. I always understood, peppers would grow year round either by climate or by manipulating it's climate. Grow house or a south facing window in the house
