If Meyer is a genetic dwarf then yes it will be dwarf on a standard size rootstock .

So, would it retain the dwarf characteristics, or would it grow larger b/c of the more robust root stock??

Do any of you grow nut trees? I might want to try pecan.

I have native black walnut , heartnut , bountiful butternut , Dunstan chestnut and Chinese chest nut . I have tried pecan but no survivors yet .

I have two pecan trees at the front of the house, circa 25 y.o. One is doing great and the other may have to come down soon as the viable limbs are dwindling. Don't know too much about them except the crows let me know when it's harvest time as they try to open the nuts on the house's skylights (at dawn, no less)

Hmmm good question. I think the graft would remain true... But I'm just guessing.

If the scion is a genetic dwarf it will retain its dwarfness.

No, if you graft a full sized tree to a dwarf, it will be dwarf, if you graft a dwarf that is not genetically dwarf to a full-sized rootstock you'll get a full sized tree

Yeah. I did my first grafts two years ago, one of them is now over three feet
