@Arielle this is it. The float is in the clear plastic container and the rocks cover the standing water. It's easy. I am going to do a couple of these for now.
I'm ok wiith leaving the floor bbare and letting the water go dry periodically. This will kill off the mosquito larve
and reduce the algae. though I see the algae as a healthy thing. This set up looks very attractive!!!
Not yet.....but someday soooooon!!Anyone grown sweet potatoes?
I've got slips growing now. This will be my first time thoughAnyone grown sweet potatoes?

I have several kiddie pools left over from all the turkey pens that I am using for gardening this year. I had to buy an fake garden owl to keep the squirrels out of the beds! I am also ordering some rubber snakes to keep them out of some of my fruit trees so that I can have some fruit!
Oh, nice. I'm going to grow them this year, though I don't think I'll need to warm up the soil, I already have tomatoes with tomatoes on them. This will be my sixth year growing sweet potatoes. I have to pre-warm the soil in the spring here in Wisconsin to get a head start on the growing season. I save several sweet potatoes from the prior year and set up row tunnels in mid April to encourage said saved sweet potatoes to sprout. I then plant the slips in mid May in the preheated ground.
