All my free time is spent in the garden planting. repotting transplants, and trying to figure out how I can use up all the seed I have as most is one year or older.
Too many tomatos to plant 32 inches between each so I caved and planted 24 inches apart and 4 feet between rows. That allows for about 20 plants per row. A few have been "cut" and after much discussion with an experienced gardener he though cut worm or mouse. Sure looks like the same nipping the house mouse likes to practice on my tomato starts. But while Digging to set replacement starts, I looked carefully and sure enough CUTWORMS.
Starting one tomato from a top that accidently broke off.
It actually looks well hydrated and a nice green.
All peas lost to nippers---so now wondering if the cut worms attack peas too. Only one row is 12 inches high. Other two rows a complete loss. Though I did suspect the ducks and the buckeyes..but figured they didnt "cut", maybe gobble it up whole or rip the tender leaves.
SO far only chives from the garden. Looking forward to trying a new variety called Red Currant in a new recipe for teeny tiny tomatos. Bought the packet on a whim;
Happy Gardening!!
